(June 6, 2015 – Amsterdam) smanos, a trendsetting innovator and dynamic developer of wireless smart home and DIY security systems, is proud to announce that its K1 SmartHome DIY Kit has been recognized with the prestigious Computex d&i gold award 2015, jointly organized by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and iF Design. A jury consisting of six renowned experts convened in Taipei in April to examine and assess 271 entries, eventually selecting 72 d&i award winners. Of the 72, five products were anointed gold, and smanos was among the winners alongside Dell and AOC. When selecting, the experts paid particular attention to criteria such as degree of innovation, quality of design, craftsmanship, selection of materials, environmental friendliness, functionality, utility value, safety, ergonomics, universal design, brand value and branding.
“After winning the Red Dot award, our K1 SmartHome DIY Kit has outdone itself again,” exclaimed Ken Li, founder and CEO of Chuango Security Technology Corporation, mother company of smanos. The K1, the ultimate home automation and security center, is smanos’ latest wireless smart home gateway, combining butler- and guard-like functions into a stack of aesthetically pleasing round discs. “The discs come with aluminum frames and texturized plastic surfaces, particularly designed for everyday wear and tear,” Li explained. “smanos K1 connects to up to 50 wireless accessories with ease, and its intuitive operation both on-site and on the smartphone is a breeze. Users, young or old, can rely on their basic senses to see, hear or touch to check if K1-enabled things at home are working properly.” Such connected but wireless things include locks, HD cameras, alarm detectors/sirens and environmental sensors, with even more in the works.
Comparable with high-caliber smartphones these days, said Hayden Hsu, VP Marketing, smanos K1 is easily mount-and-play, and adding/removing features is just like adding/removing smartphone apps. “With such intuitive operation, gesture-based password protection and self-tuning capability, your smart and connected home has just become that much more adorable and affordable with smanos K1.” Other cellular- and WiFi-based alarms as well as wireless smart home accessories and sensors are also available from smanos.
The awards ceremony, taking place on June 2 at Computex Taipei 2015, was one of the highlights of the world’s second largest ICT trade fair where all award-winning products were on display; this year, President Ma Ying-Jeou of Taiwan personally presented and congratulated each brand representative, with dignitaries such as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Charles H. Rivkin in the audience. The winners will also be presented at other ICT events around the world:
- IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany (Sept 4~9)
- GITEX Technology Week 2015 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Oct 18~22)
